The PRS SE Swamp Ash Special is one of the most unconventional guitars in the PRS SE lineup — both in sound and in attitude.
Visually and conceptually, this model steps outside the familiar PRS aesthetic. Built entirely from swamp ash, it delivers a lively, open response with clear highs, tight lows, and a pronounced, articulate midrange. The result is a guitar that feels fast, direct, and extremely responsive.
What truly defines the Swamp Ash Special is its H-S-H pickup configuration. This setup offers a wide and characterful tonal palette — from punchy humbucker drive to sharp, cutting single-coil tones — strongly reminiscent of the guitars that shaped the late 1980s, when the first superstrats were emerging and redefining versatility.
Rather than chasing a single classic voice, this guitar is about contrast and flexibility. It’s equally comfortable with clean, funky textures, expressive lead tones, and aggressive rhythm sounds — all with a distinctly different flavor compared to traditional PRS models.
The SE Swamp Ash Special is a guitar for players who appreciate PRS quality and playability, but want something less predictable, more character-driven, and rooted in a bold, era-defining design philosophy.
Every guitar in our store is completely checked and set up by our guitar luthiers so that the guitar is easy to play yet without buzz. And if you have any special wishes regarding setup - tell us (or specify) when making an order and we will be happy to make a perfect guitar for you :)
Also, you have to keep in mind that wood is a living material. Guitar’s geometry changes a little over time, adjusting to temperature and humidity, so there is no setup that can last forever. To save you a headache, we have a free setup service for our instruments! If you feel that something is off you can bring it to us so that we can return everything to it’s perfect original state.
For online orders we manually pack each guitar into a ton of wraps and carton and also have full insurance for all our shippings. So that you wouldn’t worry that something might happen on the way.
