The DiMarzio DP174W Red Velvet is a white, traditional-size single-coil pickup for Strat-style guitars. Introduced in 1994, it combines the sharp attack of a vintage Strat pickup with the stronger punch and definition associated with a classic Tele bridge sound. A bottom-mounted Power Plate increases body and output, while the hand-calibrated Alnico 5 magnets control string pull and add a distinctive midrange growl. Although designed mainly for the bridge position, the Red Velvet can also be used in the neck or middle. It has two-conductor wiring, 8.52k-ohm resistance, and 180mV output, making it suitable for blues, classic rock, country, and expressive clean tones.
Every guitar in our store is completely checked and set up by our guitar luthiers so that the guitar is easy to play yet without buzz. And if you have any special wishes regarding setup - tell us (or specify) when making an order and we will be happy to make a perfect guitar for you :)
Also, you have to keep in mind that wood is a living material. Guitar’s geometry changes a little over time, adjusting to temperature and humidity, so there is no setup that can last forever. To save you a headache, we have a free setup service for our instruments! If you feel that something is off you can bring it to us so that we can return everything to it’s perfect original state.
