Since Leo released the SB-1 and L-1000 basses in the 80s, they have captured the hearts of many bassists because they are good. But there is no limit to perfection: “Leo, can you make the same cool bass, but thinner here and here?” Bassists often asked Fender. But he did not have time to complete work on a new model, leaving this world in March 1991.

Work continued according to the drawings of the Maestro, and in 1992 the G&L Legacy Bass debuted - with the name in memory of Leo. However, later it turned out that such a name was already used by Zon Guitars, and the bass was renamed to the abbreviation for Legacy Bass - LB-100. In principle, this is the same good old "P-style", but with a deeper neckline and a slightly wider base, which makes the balance of its weight more convenient when playing. The pickups - Paul Gagon's Alnico V split coils - were chosen specifically for the LB-100 to support the "P-style" concept - and that's exactly what they sound like.

The Tribute series is the youngest in the G&L lineup. However, they totally nailed it in terms build quality and, importantly, original USA components. Pickups and bridges on all guitars of the Tribute series are exactly the same as on top American instruments.

Saddle Lock Bridge

The G&L Saddle-Lock™ bridge showcases Leo Fender's innovative guitar engineering. It features a large protrusion on the underside that fits precisely into a routed area of the guitar body, optimizing contact for better string vibration transfer. This results in significantly enhanced sustain compared to traditional fixed bridges. By firmly anchoring the bridge to the body, G&L achieves superior resonance and tonal richness. Leo Fender's saddle design also minimizes string breakage and ensures consistent performance. Overall, the Saddle-Lock bridge embodies Fender's legacy of innovation and commitment to high-quality, reliable instruments.
